The NASCAR car racing competition was a mega event that started in 1947. The contest included drivers from across the nation and the track selected for racing was uneven and rough. The stock cars were not capable of handling the pressure of the race so they were modified according to the NASCAR rules. The modifications were gradual but now these racing cars are nothing like the ones on the street.
